Allianz Trade has appointed Maxim Ryzhkov (pictured above) as CEO of Allianz Trade in China, effective Jan. 1.

Based in Shanghai, Ryzhkov will lead the trade insurer in one of the largest and fastest-growing markets in Asia-Pacific. He will report to Paul Flanagan, regional CEO of Allianz Trade in Asia-Pacific.

Prior to this appointment, Ryzhkov was commercial director for Allianz Trade (formerly known as Euler Hermes) in the Nordics, where he oversaw the commercial portfolio in the Nordic and Baltic countries since 2018. He joined Allianz Trade in 2013 as commercial director and deputy general manager, responsible for all commercial activities in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States countries. Prior to Allianz Trade, Ryzhkov held various management positions in the banking and finance sector in Canada and Russia. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

“China is the biggest piece of puzzle in our Asia-Pacific region, and I am very pleased that we have just the right person to help drive it going forward,” Flanagan said. “With his proven expertise and extensive experience in growing the commercial portfolio and managing transformation topics, Maxim will undoubtedly drive our growth strategy and ambition in China. I am confident that Maxim, together with the local management teams, will achieve great success in this important market.”

“I am very honoured to be appointed as China CEO and I am very grateful for the fruitful and fascinating years I had spent with the Northern Europe teams,” Ryzhkov said. “Together with my new team, I look forward to continue to promote the Allianz Trade brand, help our customers to sustain long-term business growth, and mitigate the risks arising from the future economic disturbances.”
