FWD Insurance Singapore has partnered with local start-up Insurance Market, which will make the insurer’s products available on the online comparison and sales platform.

According to FWD, the partnership was born out of the two companies’ similar goals – to harness technology to make insurance simpler and clearer for customers. The idea is to help change how many consumers perceive insurance and empower them to make the right choices for themselves by evaluating FWD’s policies on an independent platform.

“FWD is confident that the ultimate beneficiary from this partnership is the customer, as they will have a greater choice of insurers to compare products and prices with,” said Abhishek Bhatia, chief executive of FWD Insurance Singapore.

Insurance Market CEO Otbert de Jong added: “FWD is the first direct insurer to join our platform, bringing together the worlds of traditional and direct online insurance with like for like comparisons.”

FWD offers both life and general insurance directly and is the insurance arm of Pacific Century Group, chaired and founded by Hong Kong billionaire Richard Li. He is the son of Li Ka-shing, the richest man in Hong Kong.
