Global insurer Generali has named Fabrice Benard as Asia regional head of property & casualty, retail, recruiting him from rival firm AXA.
 
According to a statement from the company, Benard will report directly to Roberto Leonardi, regional officer for Asia.
 
Benard is a veteran of the property and casualty insurance business, having spent over 15 years in various areas of the industry, such as retail, risk management, finance, bancassurance and M&A in the European and Middle Eastern markets.

Before joining Generali, Benard was part of AXA and was based in Dubai, where he was chief of P&C, retail and an actuarial & data officer. He was also head of corporate finance, capital management, reinsurance at AXA Italy and P&C chief actuary for AXA MPS.
 
Benard is the second senior executive that has moved from AXA to Generali this year, with Leonardi joining the Italy-based firm in January. With AXA Asia, Leonardi was in charge of health & employment benefits, protection, marketing, digital and big data.
