Italy-based multinational insurer Generali Group has appointed Bruno Scaroni as              group strategy and business accelerator director, effective July 01.

Scaroni will succeed Gian Paolo Meloncelli, who will leave Generali by the end of the month to take on other professional opportunities.

Currently, Scaroni is chief executive officer of medical assistance firm Europ Assistance’s Italy arm. Having held the position since 2014, he will continue with his operational role with Europ Assistance until a successor is appointed.

This will be Scaroni’s second stint with Generali, as he was appointed chief distribution officer of Generali Italy in 2016. Prior to that, he was head of sales planning and development of Zurich Italy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an MBA in Finance and Management from the Columbia Business School in New York.

Generali Group CEO Philippe Donnet commented: “I am very glad to welcome Bruno Scaroni. Thanks to his experience in different fields of the insurance sector, he will contribute to the acceleration of the process of transformation and development of the company.

“I would like also to thank Gian Paolo Meloncelli for his outstanding contribution to the company. I wish him the best for his future endeavours.”
