Manulife Hong Kong has appointed three C-level executives as part of its senior management team. All appointments come from within.

William Man was named chief information officer and chief operations officer, Ivan Chan has been appointed chief partnership distribution officer, and Selina Ko has been promoted to chief human resources officer for Hong Kong and head of employee relations for Asia.

As chief information officer and chief operations officer, Man will be in charge of leading and implementing Manulife Hong Kong’s information technology and digital strategies, as well as core insurance operations such as underwriting, claims, and customer service.

A veteran of over 30 years in the insurance industry, Man joined Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance Co., the global insurer’s mainland China joint venture, in 2007 and became its chief operating officer in 2013. Most recently, he was interim chief information officer and chief operations officer of Manulife Hong Kong.

Chan, as chief partnership distribution officer, will head Manulife’s partnership distribution operations in Hong Kong and oversee the distribution of the insurer’s products through partners such as banks, brokers, and independent financial advisers. He continues to report to Lawrence Nutting, chief distribution officer of Manulife Hong Kong.

Since joining Manulife Hong Kong in 1999, Chan has held various cross-market leadership roles in Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia. He was most recently vice president and head of business development for distribution operations. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and holds an MBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In both her roles as chief human resources officer for Hong Kong and head of employee relations for Asia, Ko will continue to focus on building personnel teams and company culture through working closely with senior executives across the company’s different business units, as well as leading the development and execution of people strategies. She reports to Guy Mills, CEO of Manulife Hong Kong, and David Thomas, senior vice president for human resources at Manulife Asia.

Ko has over 20 years’ experience in human resources in various industries in Hong Kong, Greater China region, and Japan.

“William, Ivan and Selina are well-regarded leaders with proven track records in delivering results,” Mills said. “We are delighted to announce these appointments in recognition of their leadership and contribution. It is also an important step in further supporting our growth strategies and focus on serving the customer.”
