Swiss Re International, a Luxembourg-based subsidiary of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, has received formal authorization from the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance Hong Kong to conduct general insurance business operations in Hong Kong.

The insurer’s Hong Kong branch commences operations immediately, catering to a large and medium corporate clientele. Aside from the usual property and casualty insurance, professional and financial lines, engineering and construction, energy, marine, credit and customized risk-transfer solutions are also offered.

To head the new branch, Swiss Re has appointed Dylan Bryant as its manager. He has been in Hong Kong since 2009 and joined Swiss Re in February, 2016. Previously, he worked with Lloyd’s and Zurich Insurance. He is also a director of the Chartered Insurance Institute Hong Kong (CIIHK).

Fred Kleiterp, CEO for Asia Pacific, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, commented on the authorization and appointment, saying: “Our office in Hong Kong signifies our strong commitment to the region. Clients will benefit from local representation of our global products and services backed by the financial strength of the Swiss Re Group.

“Dylan's broad experience in delivering commercial insurance solutions will help us develop and execute a long-term plan for accelerating growth.”
