Swiss Re will cooperate with India’s National Insurance Academy (NIA) to develop re/insurance skills and expertise among students and professionals that want to pursue an insurance career in India.

The two organisations have signed a memorandum of understanding, with Swiss Re acting as a technical partner to NIA’s academic activities and programmes.

Through the agreement, Swiss Re will use its expertise in global and local insurance markets to augment the course curriculum for NIA’s flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) insurance programme.

Swiss Re will create workshops, specialist modules, and seminars on risk management, insurance, reinsurance, and data analytics. Several experts from the firm will also provide lectures on various insurance lines, such as life, motor, property & casualty, and health.

“Swiss Re’s partnership with NIA is an important step in our ongoing efforts to increase the availability of suitable talent for India’s insurance industry,” said Amit Kaira, head of global services for Swiss Re Global Business Solutions India. “We look forward to working with NIA, bringing Swiss Re’s global expertise and understanding of the Indian market to train young people for fruitful careers in risk management.”

“This partnership promises to give NIA’s students access to knowledge and insights from a leading global insurance/reinsurance organisation, with significant opportunity to develop specialist skills, ultimately enhancing their preparation for an enriching and rewarding career in the re/insurance sector,” added Sushobhan Sarker, NIA director.
