XL Catlin has appointed Dr. Henna A. Karna as its new chief data officer. A veteran of over 20 years in leading data-driven and innovative disruption in the insurance industry, Karna will report to XL’s chief platform officer, Myron Hendry.
 
An expert in genetic algorithms, cognitive learning, behavior modeling, deep neural networks, and digital strategy, Karna will be of great benefit to the company. Previously, she was president of Verisk Digital Services, as well as actuarial chief information officer and managing director at AIG.
 
Karna has also advised several Fortune 500 companies on digital innovation and disruption strategies and designed patent-pending technology and applications in the field of digital-data technologies in insurance. She holds degrees in mathematical sciences from the University of Massachusetts and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

In 2015, Karna was ranked fifth in a list of the top 15 personalities in insurance technology released by Insurance Networking News. She was also a keynote speaker on women in leadership at ACORD.
