XL Catlin appoints Rob McAdams as global chief underwriter for marine

Global specialty insurer XL Catlin has announced the promotion of Rob McAdams as chief underwriting officer for global marine insurance, effective immediately. Previously, he was marine leader for UK and Ireland.

McAdams has 20 years’ experience in insurance, having held various posts at Reliance National in New York before joining the XL Group. He is also an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, as well as a chartered property & casualty underwriter.

Doug Howat, chief executive for global lines at XL Catlin commented on the appointment: “We are delighted that Rob has stepped into this position. Rob has been with XL Catlin since 2000 and during this time has honed his expertise spanning hull, ports & terminals, and global marine & upstream energy liabilities.  He has shown great leadership skills in his former roles and has exactly the right experience and expertise to steer strategy for our marine team at a global level.”
