XL Catlin has appointed Todd Wilhelm as Asia-Pacific regional product leader for energy, property, and construction, based in Singapore.

In his new role, Wilhelm will be responsible for growing the insurer’s energy, property, and construction insurance business, as well as leading a team in fostering stronger relationships with brokers and clients across the Asia-Pacific region.

Wilhelm has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, specialising in property and construction. He joins XL Catlin from QBE Insurance where he was most recently chief underwriting operations officer and head of property & engineering for emerging markets. Prior to QBE, he had worked at ACE Insurance and FM Global.

“Growth in Asia is still expected to outpace the anticipated growth in other regions,” said Craig Langham, XL Catlin’s chief executive of Asia-Pacific for Insurance. “In particular, China’s $4 trillion ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ economic initiative will bring about tremendous opportunities across Eurasia.

“It’s therefore crucial to have the right expertise in place to tailor solutions for these clients,” he added. “Todd’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to investing in the best talent to support companies in Asia-Pacific.”
