PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia is planning to sue the lawyer of two of its clients for allegedly giving discredited statements to the media.

Lim was the lawyer for Ifranius Algadri and Indah Goena Nanda, two Allianz Life policyholders that reported the insurer to the police for allegedly failing to pay their claims.

“The case is currently being investigated for the protection of Allianz Life’s rights and image,” the insurer told the Jakarta Post, adding that the lawsuit was filed to protect the company’s investors, clients, and other concerned parties.

Allianz Indonesia also reported several of its clients to the police for allegedly making false insurance claims. Adrian DW, the insurer’s head of corporate communications, refused to reveal the identities of the reported clients, but confirmed that they were not Ifranius and Indah.

Two former company executives, Joachim Wessling and Yuliana Firmansyah, were accused of violating the consumer protection law. Wessling was subject to a manhunt by the Jakarta police, and was determined to be outside of the country.

However, Senior Commander Argo Yuwono, a spokesman of the Jakarta Police, revealed that Ifranius and Indah had dropped their complaints against Allianz. The police are still ascertaining the reasons behind the retraction of their complaints.
