QBE Insurance Group has appointed Chris Kurinsky as chief executive officer of QBE Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad.

Kurinsky will be in charge of the insurer’s business across Malaysia and will work towards driving profitable growth in the country. He will focus on increasing the firm’s presence in the specialty, commercial, SME, and personal lines of business by carrying out strategic initiatives and partnerships.

His previous experience in the Malaysian insurance sector and his expertise in underwriting, distribution, reinsurance, and strategic planning will help us continue to expand our solid customer base in this dynamic market. Chris is inheriting a strong business in Malaysia, which is an integral part of our emerging markets division and remains a key part of our profitable growth strategy.”

Before joining QBE Malaysia, Kurinsky was head of sales and direct marketing, consumer lines, at Chubb Insurance China. He also has previous experience in the Malaysian market, as he was general manager of consumer lines for Chubb Malaysia prior to his stint in China. He is an insurance veteran of 20 years, holding various roles in mainland China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, United States and the Latin America markets.
