SART Group, a Hong Kong-based re/insurer has appointed Joseph Lo King Yin as group chief underwriting officer, effective September 1. The move is an internal promotion, and he also takes a seat at the group’s board.

Lo is tasked with leading the firm’s marketing and underwriting operations, as well as the implementation of SART’s long- and short-term plans across all the three Lloyd’s Coverholder subsidiary companies to strengthen the group.

In 2012, Lo was appointed as chief casualty underwriter, where he contributed to SART Casualty, a Lloyd’s Coverholder agency, into a sustainable, profitable and valuable company. In his new role, he will be in charge for all classes of underwriting, business development, and management of the operations of the entire SART Group.

Cheng Siong Gan, chief executive of SART Group, said: “I am delighted that Mr. Lo has accepted this new role as I have been impressed with the dedication and commitment he has shown over the past five years. He has been a significant influence and the new role ensures that we are positioned for growth as we enter the next phase in our development.”

Founded in 2008, SART Group is a risk and reinsurance underwriting specialist, focusing on marine, casualty, and construction risks in the Asia-Pacific region.
