PartnerRe, a Bermuda-based reinsurance provider, has appointed Dorothée Burkel to the newly created position of chief corporate and people operations officer, effective October 02.
In the new role in the firm’s executive management team, Burkel will be the main executive responsible for overseeing human resources, communications, legal, and internal audit. She will be based in Paris.
Burkel will join PartnerRe from Google, where she was people operations director of the EMEA region beginning 2008. She has 30 years of professional experience leading international and decentralised teams in a digital environment. She also was vice president for HR and corporate communication for AOL France and vice president for brand and corporate communication for AOL Europe before joining Google.
PartnerRe’s president and CEO Emmanuel Clarke commented on the appointment: “This new position will be key to creating a working environment where employees can thrive while delivering excellent results. Dorothée will provide a strong executive voice for these important functions, as well as a refreshing perspective from a different industry. Her experience developing and managing top talent in agile, dynamic environments makes her an excellent fit for this role.”
