Making news this week, ASIC cancelled the AFS license of an insurance brokerage, a major insurer announces a new executive and a leading global player announces a new CEO for the region.

ASIC has cancelled the Australian Financial Services (AFS) licence of Winley Insurance Group

The cancellation was due to failure to lodge financial statements, auditor reports and auditor opinions over consecutive years as the business failed to notify ASIC in writing when it became aware of this breach.

ASIC’s investigation into the business continues.

Suncorp announced its latest member of its executive team with a new chief information officer joining the Group.

Sarah Harland will join the business from Medibank Private, where she was EGM, technology and operations with previous stints at ANZ alongside roles in the United Kingdom and United States.

Finally, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) announced a new CEO for its operations in the Pacific.

Willem van Wyk will take on the role, replacing Holger Schaefer who is now the regional CEO of Asia Pacific for Allianz Group company Euler Hermes.

Van Wyk joined Allianz in 2008 as head of market management for AGCS Pacific and moved to the Middle East in 2015 to become CEO of AGCS Dubai.
