David Bell will step down from his position as chief executive of the Actuaries Institute after four years of service.

In a statement, Actuaries Institute president Jenny Lyon said Bell, who joined the institute in January 2014, will leave at the end of this year.

“David has been an important part of the institute and played an instrumental role in building our public profile,” Lyon said. “With his energy and insights, David has helped ensure that the institute has a voice as a public policy advocate on key reform issues affecting Australian society and our economy such as those in the banking, insurance, health, big data, tax, and superannuation/retirement incomes sectors.”

Bell said he had been honoured to lead the “impressive and influential” organisation, the strength of which he credited to the “calibre of its members.”

“It has been a privilege to lead the institute over the past four years and work with a talented and highly motivated team as well as committed members including many senior executives,” Bell said.
