Aon has announced a new leader for its surety, trade credit and political risk business.

Dan Chapman has joined the business in the role and will lead a national team of experts as the major brokerage looks to grow its presence in the market.

In his previous role, Chapman was manager of trade credit, surety and political risk for Lockton and has worked in the area for more than a decade with previous roles with Origin Insurance Brokers, Australian Reliance and with Euler Hermes in London.

Chapman will look to grow Aon’s presence in the market as international events continue to see the importance of surety, trade credit and political risk rise.

“Credit insurance is an important risk financing tool for our clients in Australia, but it is currently an underserviced market, creating an exciting window of opportunity for Aon,” Chapman said.

Jennifer Richards, managing director, specialities, at Aon Risk Solutions said that the move to appoint Chapman shows the growing importance of the market.
“The current economic environment presents ever growing challenges for our clients,” Richards said.

“At Aon, we believe there is an opportunity to deliver more creative solutions within the surety, trade credit and political risk markets in Australia.”
