W.R Berkley has announced that it will celebrate its 50th anniversary with events hosted around the world.

The global firm was founded in 1967 by William R. Berkley with an initial investment of US$2,500 and has since grown into a multi-national firm with over US$7.7 billion in revenues.

“Our success is a reflection of the collective efforts of our employees, agents, brokers, and the many people who have contributed their advice and capital to our enterprise,” Berkley said of the success of the business.

The firm also announced that it has hired Michael S. Nannizzi to join the corporate investment arm of the business.

Nannizzi most recently served as the lead equity analyst covering insurance at Goldman, and in his newly created role he will be responsible for evaluating investments in emerging insurance technology companies.
