Cover-More has launched a new Pre-Travel GP consultation for its policyholders as an extension of its Australia-first Travel GP service.

The consultations will see travellers who purchase a policy offered a telephone consultation with a qualified, Australian doctor who specialises in travel medicine before they jet off.

The Pre-Travel GP service will include a full medical assessment, covering medical history, travel plans, destinations and timing and will advise customers on a complete plan of care including immunisations and vaccines and travel medical essentials.

The consultation will see doctors able to provide any prescriptions the traveller needs ahead of their trip and the customer is emailed a comprehensive summary of the appointment, including emergency contact details, upon its conclusion.

“This is a great tool to help busy people prepare for travel and the feedback we have received from customers so far is overwhelmingly positive,” Richard Austin, Cover-More Group global commercial manager said.

Pre-Travel GP consultations are available for clients now and are offered when a policy is purchased with an appointment scheduled later.

Cover-More’s Travel GP service was launched in 2015 and provides policyholders with round-the-clock access to an Australian doctor via video or telephone.
