A royal family beautician has had her hands insured for an astounding £15 million, but the condition is she can no longer do some basic day-to-day tasks in case she damages or hurts them.
Deborah Mitchell, founder of Heaven Skincare, decided to insure her hands as her business which caters to the rich and famous continues to grow; but as part of the £15 million deal, she must take special steps to protect them from anything that could them harm, the
Daily Mail reported.
This includes wearing gloves when walking her dogs Paddy and Taffy; using silk gloves when handling cutlery; and avoiding opening doors herself. Mitchell also cannot touch heated kitchen equipment; garden without the use of gloves and extra tools and appliances; and open letters without using an envelope opener and silk gloves, the report said.
The 51-year-old, who is famous for innovating bee venom products, including a bee sting facial kit, also spends a great deal of her time taking care of her hands. She devotes 30 minutes of each day to thoroughly massage them with candle wax oils and performs a variety of hand exercises two to three times a day. As an extra precaution, she wears gold bangles to bed every night as gold is known for its healing properties and for preventing arthritis, the
Daily Mail reported.
Mitchell, whose high-profile clients include Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, Duran Duran, Danni Minogue, and Tess Daly, explained why her “strange” decision actually made good business sense.
“I fly all over the world treating celebrities and royalty. This would not be possible if I damaged my hands, even with a small paper cut as I could not treat anyone until it healed.”
“My hands are so important to me as I could be called at any minute to attend an important trip with a client and I would never want to let them down.”
“Without my hands, I would not be able to earn a living and make my clients beautiful − and that isn't an option for me.”
