Gallagher has acquired Australian firms Connect Insurance Group and Scope Insurance Brokers, in a move that further expands the US broker's regional footprint and insurance broking and risk management capabilities.

“Both acquisitions bring fresh opportunities to Gallagher and clients, and helps us to further cement our relationships in the local communities we serve,” said Michael Lewin, head of M&A (Australia).

Lewin said Gallagher's joining forces with Scope almost doubles its team in Launceston and puts them “in great shape to grow our investment in the local business and broader Tasmanian community.”

“The Scope team have worked together for almost a decade, and as such are well-established and known to the local community,” he said. “Amongst other things, they offer specialist capability in the food wholesale and manufacturing, civil construction, and labour hire spaces.”

The Connect team, meanwhile, brings “more than 20 years’ transport, civil construction, and general SME experience to the business, which naturally complements our existing transport and civil capability in Parramatta,” Lewin said.
