GT Insurance has been announced as the winner of the 2016 Sue Ronai Memorial Excellence in Claims award.

The award is based on insurers’ overall claims services and GT Insurance was picked out ahead of all other major insurers and underwriting agencies.

Originally presented by AB Phillips, the award is now voted on by all Austbrokers members in Victoria and Tasmania.

Andrew Coad, Victorian state manager of GT Insurance, said that the company was honoured to receive the award and stressed the importance of claims management.

“At GT Insurance, we firmly believe the quality of Claims and Recovery management ultimately defines the service we provide to our brokers and customers at a time when they need us most,” Coad said.

Votes for the award were based on 13 different questions on all aspects of claims management and settlements.

Last year’s winner, Chubb, was a close runner up to GT Insurance with CGU rounding out the podium places.

Sue Ronai spent a long and distinguished career in the insurance industry with most of her working life spent in claims at major insurers before she died in 2007.
