The board of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed Zurich Financial Services Australia chief executive Daniel Fogarty and Allianz Australia managing director Niran Peiris as directors.

They fill open positions on the ICA board which were made vacant by the resignation of Shane Doyle in June, who was formerly with Zurich before taking a role with DUAL, and Terry Towell in December who retired from the industry last year.

Fogarty and Peiris were appointed at the first ICA meeting for 2013 held late last week which was overseen by incoming chair and president, Mark Milliner Suncorp Group chief executive for Personal Insurance.

The new appointment brings the board’s total numbers to 12.
