Insurance and care service provider icare has announced that all New South Wales businesses will be able to quote and renew their workers’ insurance policy directly with the insurer from April 30.

Last month, icare assured brokers that they still have a place in the new model as the latest phase of development for the workers’ insurance market in New South Wales comes into effect.

Since February, the insurer has seen more than 3,000 business-owners take out a workers’ insurance policy with icare, John Nagle, icare group executive workers insurance said.

“This is about providing NSW businesses with choice, flexibility and easy-to-use options when it comes to their workers’ insurance,” Nagle said.

The second change, which allows all businesses to go direct to icare, follows February’s launch of policy sales to new business owners across the state.

icare has launched a suite of multi-channel tools so business owners can renew policies around the clock as the insurer noted that business owners can now use online, web or intermediary channels to secure insurance.

Nagle noted that icare has further plans to revamp the market in New South Wales.

“Later this year, we will enhance our online offering by providing businesses with access to increasingly sophisticated functionality, like the option to gain insight into their performance and the support they need to achieve a genuinely safer workplace,” Nagle continued.

The changes to the workers’ insurance market saw CGU withdraw from the market prior to icare’s direct move.
