National law firm Mills Oakley has added a new dimension to its insurance practice with the appointment of Louise Cantrill as new partner.

Cantrill will jump ship from the soon-to-be-merged Henry Davis York (HDY) and Norton Rose Fullbright, and will be working with the firm's health & life sciences team, headed by Teresa Nicoletti, starting Oct. 9.

Cantrill, who has been with HDY for 16 years, specialises in professional negligence and corporate liability, including D&O-related matters, and provides risk mitigation and insurance advice. She also has a particular interest in the health sector, having been the lead advisor in HDY's medical malpractice team. Cantrill's clients include insurers, government departments, and agencies and corporates.

Mills Oakley CEO John Nerurker said Cantrill's appointment was the latest enhancement to the national insurance team, which already welcomed new partners in Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne over the past 18 months.

“What is so valuable about this appointment is that Louise will apply her deep insurance expertise to transactions, projects, and other front-end activities undertaken by our clients,” Nerurker said. “Louise’s appointment will be a catalyst for further collaboration across our practice groups, to deliver strong outcomes for our clients.”

Prior to joining HDY, Cantrill worked at Corrs Chambers Westgarth as solicitor/senior associate and at Shell Company of Australia as area manager.
