A global advisory, broking, and solutions company has announced two new additions to its property and casualty (P&C) business in Australia.

Michael Baker will join Willis Towers Watson as P&C leader for New South Wales in November, and Bill Callan will take on the role of P&C leader of Victoria, effective immediately. Baker will be based in Sydney, and will report to Katie Simmonds, GM of corporate risk and broking – NSW; while the Melbourne-based Callan will report to Darren Oliver, GM of corporate risk and broking – Victoria/SA.

“In their new roles, Bill and Mike will be responsible for leading our P&C client service teams, incorporating our corporate, construction, and insolvency offerings,” said Andrew Boal, head of Australasia at Willis Towers Watson. “These critical positions form part of our strategy to focus our business around client needs. We’re thrilled to have an internationally experienced Willis Towers Watson colleague of Mike’s calibre rejoin our team in Australia, and proud to provide Bill with the opportunity to further expand his areas of responsibility.”

Baker will join the Australian team from Willis Towers Watson Singapore, where he currently serves as head of corporate clients and client relationship director. He has also worked at Liberty International Underwriters, and has held roles in Sydney and London with organisations, including Willis (now Willis Towers Watson), Aon, Vero, RSA, and Neighbour Insurance Consultants.

Callan brings more than 18 years of management experience to the firm, having served as state-based practice manager at Willis Towers Watson, divisional manager – corporate with JLT, and Victorian managing director of Zuellig Insurance Brokers.
