Gregg Hanson becomes Chairman of Wynward Insurance Group

Winnipeg – August 31, 2017: Gregg Hanson has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Wynward Insurance Group.

Curt Vossen, who has served as Chairman of Wynward for over 15 years, has retired as Chairman. Mr. Vossen is President & Chief Executive Officer of Richardson International, Canada’s largest agri-food company.

Mr. Hanson is a well-known former executive in the Insurance Industry, having served as President & Chief Executive officer of Wawanesa Insurance. He is currently a Director of Wynward Insurance Group, as well as Wynward’s parent company, James Richardson & Sons Ltd.

Mr. Vossen, commenting on his retirement from the Wynward Board said, “I have tremendous pride & confidence in the leadership team of Wynward. They have built a terrific business, growing new markets, product segments and a revitalized and well-known brand. It has been a pleasure to work with a very talented Board and I thank them for their dedication and leadership.”

Mr. Hanson joined Wawanesa in 1979 and progressed through various positions with the company. In 1992, he was made President & Chief Executive Officer of Wawanesa. He held this position until his retirement in 2007. He has served on numerous charitable organization Boards, including Chairman of The Winnipeg Foundation, Chairman of Finance for 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, numerous United Way of Winnipeg committees, and many others.

Mr. Hanson is a former Council member of the Insurance Institute of Manitoba, and past member of the Board of the Center for the Study of Insurance Operations. He is Past Chairman of the Insurance Institute of Canada, the Property & Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction. He was a Board and Executive member of Insurance Bureau of Canada.
