AXIS Insurance chooses physicist to lead data and analytics unit

AXIS Insurance announced yesterday that it has appointed Meghan Anzelc, Ph.D. as vice-president of Data and Analytics.

In this new role, physicist and data scientist Anzelc “is responsible for implementing a strategy and roadmap to expand AXIS’s data and analytics capabilities,” a release said.

“Meghan is an accomplished data scientist and a proven leader with a strong understanding of the specialty insurance space – she is the ideal candidate to help take AXIS Insurance’s data and analytics strategy to the next level,” said AXIS Insurance executive vice-president and chief pricing actuary Brian Kemp.

“Guided by Meghan’s leadership, we will further build on our efforts to employ advanced data-driven decision making and analytics capabilities to enhance our products and services and deliver even more value to our clients.”

Anzelc was previously vice-president, lead data scientist for Zurich North America. She also held several actuarial and analytics roles at CNA and Travelers.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in physics from Loyola University Chicago. Anzelc is also a recipient of both a master’s and doctoral degree in physics from Northwestern University. Currently, she is serving as a part of the steering committee for the Women in Insurance Networking Group.
