Roadside assistance and auto insurance company CAA North & East Ontario (CAA NEO) yesterday launched its Worst Roads Campaign, encouraging motorists in the region to voice their opinions and identify roads that are in serious need of repairs.

Voting is open until May 4; those interested in casting their votes can visit the website CAA has made especially for the campaign.

“Road infrastructure across the province is always top of mind at this time of year,” said CAA NEO president and CEO Christina Hlusko. “Conditions like potholes can increase traffic congestion, strain existing roadways, and cause serious vehicular damage – in addition to putting both driver and pedestrian safety at risk.”

Last year’s campaign saw a considerable voter turnout, with nominations for over 2,500 roads from across the province. According to a release, County Road 49 in Prince Edward County was voted the worst road for 2016. The release also noted that, for the first time in the campaign’s history, none of Ottawa’s roads made it to the top 10 worst roads.
