Economical Insurance, a major Canadian property and casualty insurer, has donated $100,000 to the largest provider of youth business education programs in Canada as part of its ongoing support to the organisation.

The contribution to JA Canada – which brings total sponsorship funding from Economical to $500,000 since 2012 – will help fund the organisation’s digital strategy, JA Excelerate, and will also go towards programs for students in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

“At Economical, supporting youth and their education is a priority for us,” Karen Gavan, President and CEO, Economical Insurance, said in a release.

“We are delighted to continue supporting JA in their efforts to reach more students with high-quality programming in the critical areas of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.”
Volunteer employees from Economical also deliver JA Canada programs in classrooms across the country as part of a long-term commitment from the insurer.

Over the past two years, Economical volunteers have delivered more than 550 hours of JA programming to Canadian students.

Scott Hillier, CEO and President, JA Canada, said: “We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with Economical Insurance.

“We are especially grateful for the commitment of Economical employees who share their wealth of real world knowledge with students in classrooms from coast to coast.”
