Ottawa-based managing general agent ENCON has announced the appointment of a new chief underwriting officer.

The firm has appointed Stefanie McKay to the role, a 17-year veteran with ENCON who most recently served as senior vice-president of the MGA’s errors and omissions (E&O) underwriting department.

As CUO, McKay will be responsible for leading and developing underwriting strategy across all lines of business within the firm’s underwriting management division, ENCON said in a release.

Prior to her previous role, where she was responsible for overseeing the company’s architects and engineers, E&O and technology product lines, McKay also served as an underwriter in the directors and officers department, and manager of associations and affinity groups within the E&O department.

McKay, who holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ottawa, will continue to be based in ENCON’s Ottawa headquarters in her new role, and will report to the company’s president, David Cook.
