The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) announced Friday that it has appointed a new CEO.

Provincial offshoot Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario said that Peter Braid will serve as the new CEO of IBAC.

Most recently, Braid served as director of operations at Sun Life Financial and as an Account Manager with Waterloo-based Quarry Integrated Communications. Braid was a former Member of Parliament for Kitchener – Waterloo from 2008 to 2015. He served as Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Communities while in office, associated with the Conservative party. He has also served as a communications consultant and also in the constituency office of former MP Walter McLean as a part of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Braid is also a former member of the Waterloo Economic Development Committee and the board of the Conservative riding association in Kitchener – Waterloo.
