An equipment breakdown insurer has announced an online service for customers to use, allowing policyholders to easily manage their home systems better.

The Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company of Canada (BI&I), an HSB Group member and a part of Munich Re, unveiled the launch of its MyHomeWorks platform for homeowners yesterday.

MyHomeWorks is a suite of various insurer-branded management tools that aid homeowners in controlling loss in and around their properties, optimizing costs and energy efficiency. The suite includes a free PC checkup to registered users, year-round tech support, and a home inventory app. It was designed to accompany BI&I’s Home Systems Protection breakdown coverage product.

“Personal lines carriers are continually seeking to differentiate their offerings in order to provide added value to their customers” said BI&I vice-president of Reinsurance Derrick Hughes. “All homeowners can benefit from content and tools that can help them manage their homes better, control loss and save energy.”
