An executive of SSQ Financial recently announced that he is retiring from his post, effective by the end of the following month.

Pierre Genest, the director and chairman of the board of SSQ Life Insurance Company, SSQ Insurance Company, and SSQ Mutual Management Corporation will be retiring on April 29, 2017, a release said.

From 1986 to 1991, Genest served as the founder and CEO of SSQ General Insurance Company. He was then appointed to the roles of president and CEO of SSQ Life insurance Company, which he served from 1991 to 2001. Genest later held the position of president and CEO of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, from 2002 to 2006. During 1993 to 2006, he was also a member of the board of directors of SSQ, SSQ Life Insurance Company. Genest has also been a director of SSQ Mutual Management Corporation and the Group’s insurance companies since 2006.

“On behalf of myself and all the members of the boards of directors, we are immeasurably thankful and grateful to Pierre, a great builder and ambassador, for his devotion to SSQ,” said vice-chairman of the boards Émile Vallée.

According to a release, the election to appoint a new director will be held at the upcoming annual meeting on April 29, 2017, in Quebec City.
