The blaze in the Newfoundland town on the Canada Bay destroyed one home, while a second sustained severe damage and a third suffered some minor damage. Only one of the homes was insured.

"At this point in time the victims of the fire are devastated, and they are unsure where they will go from here," said Lt. Cathy Shears, of the Salvation Army in Englee to one media outlet.

“I think, being in a small community, that everyone is devastated at this point in time.”

Residents of the tiny harbor village have already proffered their support, with Red Cross volunteers and members of the Salvation Army assisting with emergency purchases of clothing, food and other basics, and the local church opening up their hall as a community donation drop-off location.
