Chubb has named Lou Capparelli executive vice-president of its Global Casualty business unit.

The business unit “provides a full range of domestic and foreign casualty insurance coverage offerings and service solutions to large national and multinational companies within the company’s North America Major Accounts division,” a release said.

In his new, expanded role, Capparelli will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s full range of global casualty coverage offerings, service and technology solutions. He will report to Chubb North America Major Accounts COO Matt Merna and will be based in New York City.

“Lou’s industry knowledge and extensive leadership experience within Chubb Global Casualty makes him an ideal fit for this position,” said Chubb Group SVP and Chubb North America Major Accounts division president Chris Maleno.

“Under Lou’s leadership, our distribution partners and clients will continue to recognize the breadth of expertise our field network brings to the marketplace, as well as the innovations we provide to help them ensure comprehensive risk management programs are in place.”

Capparelli joined ACE Group in 2002 before its acquisition of Chubb. He was most recently executive vice-president of Chubb Global Casualty’s Field Operations.

He received his Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Economics and Political Science from the University at Albany (SUNY), in Albany, NY, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham Gabelli School of Business. He also bears the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) professional designation.
