Monique Leroux was a big name in the world of high finance even before joining Desjardins Group. As president, CEO and chair of the board of the company, Leroux is lauded as an inspiration for women looking to break the executive glass ceiling. She’s a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and the Founder’s Council of the Quebec Global 100 network. Leroux holds honorary doctorates from the Université de Montréal; the Université de Sherbrooke; the University of Ottawa; Concordia University; Bishop’s University; and the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Among numerous other honours, she has received the Women Corporate Directors Visionary Award; been named a Woman of Outstanding Achievement by the Women’s Y Foundation; been named Quebec’s Financial Person of the Year; and received the Woodrow Wilson Award for contribution to Canadian society from the Canada Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
