AA Insurance has announced the appointment of Shaun Rees as its chief product and marketing officer.

Rees (pictured) boasts a comprehensive background in New Zealand's consumer services industry, with leadership stints at entities such as Genesis Energy, ANZ, and Prudential Assurance UK. His career spans various sectors, underscoring his broad expertise.

His recent roles include serving as the general manager of sales, brand, and marketing (CMO) at Genesis Energy and as a non-executive director at Ecotricity, New Zealand's first climate-positive Retail Energy Provider.

Rees also founded Frank Energy, an award-winning retail brand, and spearheaded digital and innovation initiatives at both Genesis and ANZ Bank.

New senior role

Rees is recognised for his strategic leadership in enhancing customer and stakeholder relations. At AA Insurance, his duties will encompass overseeing the brand, enhancing customer experiences, and managing product, pricing, and marketing strategies.

Rees transitioned to a permanent role at AA Insurance starting Feb. 28 after initially joining in a temporary capacity towards the end of 2023.
