The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has recognised outstanding members, as well as the role of education in achieving individual and industry success as it held its annual Celebrating Success Awards.

The Auckland event saw Malcolm Howarth, from Lifeguard Brokers, scoop the honorary membership and Neil Millar, from QBE Insurance, grab the Les Dobson Reinsurance prize for the student who got the highest result in the reinsurance module.

Also stealing the limelight during the awards night were Elissa Stoney and Dominic Harrison who were named the ICNZ Marine Prize Winners for achieving the highest results in a marine module, and Caleb Walker from AA Insurance who was awarded the ICNZ/ANZIIF scholarship.

In total, 10 academic awards were handed out during the past year, with Angus Jorgensen getting the New Zealand Regional Student of the Year award for achieving the highest average result in completing a qualification.

Meanwhile, the most prestigious level of ANZIIF membership – the ANZIIF Fellow – was granted to Fraser White from Suncorp New Zealand.

“Learning and professional development is at the heart of the Celebrating Success Awards. The time and dedication it takes to complete a qualification should be acknowledged and rewarded,” said Prue Willsford, ANZIIF CEO.

“Everyone who was recognised has demonstrated their commitment to their careers and the industry. With such talent, the future of the New Zealand insurance industry looks bright.”
