A former head of a major insurer’s Australia and New Zealand operations is set to embark on a new challenge in his career, as he joins a public enterprise that delivers insurance and care services to people in NSW.

According to Street Talk, Tim Plant, who stepped down from his role as QBE Insurance’s Australia and New Zealand chief mid-last year, will be joining icare (Insurance & Care NSW).

Vivek Bhatia, icare’s chief executive, is set to announce Plant’s appointment as group executive for innovation, responsible for improving customer interaction and enforcing new technologies and models in healthcare and fintech.

Plant has more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance experience. He joined QBE in 2011 as EGM of corporate partners and direct insurance, and most recently held the chief of Australia and New Zealand role for a year. He also worked at Elders and Swiss Re, the report said.
