London-based Acappella Group Holdings Ltd (AGHL) has welcomed two new appointees whose primary purpose will be to launch an MGA business specializing in a diverse financial lines book of business.

Liz Hanlon will take on the role as chairman of AGHL’s MGA platform Acappella Agency Limited (AAL), while Paul Russel will serve as its chief underwriting officer.

The two have a combined insurance experience of more than 50 years, and had most recently built and led the financial lines book of business at Dual, AGHL said in a statement.
Hanlon commented on her and Russel’s new role at AAL: “While we are sad at leaving a successful and well-established MGA like Dual, we are both very excited at the opportunity AAL provides us to be part of the continued growth of its MGA platform.”

AGHL CEO David Thomas said the two will help the company expand its existing MGA platform.

“We are delighted to welcome Liz and Paul to AAL as part of our strategy to build out a diversified book of business through this MGA platform,” he commented. “Their wealth of expertise in the London market and entrepreneurial spirit will add significant value to drive the business forward.”
