There is a new leading man at AEGIS London as Toby Sawyer moves into the role of head of property.

Sawyer has been promoted to the role, taking over from Alex Powell who remains the active underwriter of AEGIS Syndicate 1225.

Having joined the company in 2009, Sawyer has been deputy head of property since 2015 and will now move into the lead role of an area that represents some 35% of the syndicate’s overall income for 2017 and is a global account with an emphasis in the USA and Canada. The book consists of open market and binder business as well as power and treaty reinsurance.

“Syndicate 1225 is blessed with a very strong property team and Toby is more than ready to step up to this challenge in what is a very difficult market,” commented Powell. “His track record at AEGIS London demonstrates that he can run a profitable book in the prevailing market conditions.”

Property is a growing area for AEGIS London as it seeks to reinforce its strategy for disciplined profitable growth. Furthermore, it was within the property book that AEGIS London rolled out its Opal online quote and bind platform as part of the drive for innovation in distribution with London-based brokers.
