They say two heads are better than one, and for American International Group (AIG) that means bringing in two highly respected industry names.

The insurance giant has announced two new members of its senior corporate communications team with Jim Wells taking the role of global head of digital and social media, while Daniel O’Donnell (pictured) moves into the position of head of corporate communications. Both will report to AIG’s chief communications officer, Cindy Leggett-Flynn.

“I’ve known and worked with both Jim and Daniel for some time and am so happy to welcome them to our talented team at AIG at this exciting, dynamic time,” said Leggett-Flynn. “They each bring deep expertise and experience to their respective roles, and they will play a critical part in effectively telling our story and supporting our leadership team in realizing their vision for AIG’s next chapter.”

In his role working on digital and social media, Wells, who previously served as a director at Brunswick Group, will aim to offer strategic support through the firm’s global communications network. Wells also boasts experience at the likes of Weber Shandwick where he counselled companies on their own digital programmes.

Meanwhile, O’Donnell’s responsibilities will include those relating to public affairs, financial communications and corporate reputation – he also joins from Brunswick where he spent nearly a decade advising clients on communication strategies across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific.
