Allianz promotes industry veteran for engineering division

Company dips into its own talent pool to make key appointment

Allianz has appointed Gary Tonks as technical account development manager of engineering, according to a news release. In his new role, Tonks will manage several key Allianz Engineering accounts and work with the company’s business development teams to win new clients.

Tonks has nearly three decades of experience in the engineering sector. He joined Allianz in 2010 as an engineer surveyor specializing in the lift and crane discipline, according to the release. Since joining the company, he’s achieved an NVQ level 4 in engineering surveying of equipment, systems and services. He’s also achieved Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Counsel.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to fill such a pivotal role internally, demonstrating the strength of Allianz’s talent pool and our commitment to investing in our people,” said Steve Ford, special services manager for Allianz. “Gary has a wealth of experience in the engineering sector, and I’m really looking forward to the knowledge he is going to bring to the Key Accounts team.”
