Aon UK has appointed a new chief risk officer who joins the firm from Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT), it was announced this afternoon.

Matt Kimber will replace John Nicholson, who has been interim CRO for the last 11 months, and will also join the Aon UK board, the firm said.

Kimber was group head of risk & compliance at JLT for five years prior to his new role, and has 20 years’ experience in the industry.

Aon described him as having “influenced and developed enhanced risk aware cultures” in previous company roles, which have included Marsh, HBOS and Lloyds.

“Matt brings great energy and experience to our risk and compliance team and we are delighted to have him on board,” Julie Page, CEO of Aon UK, said.

“I would also like to thank John for the excellent job he has done as interim CRO and wish him well as he returns to his role as a non-executive director on the Aon UK Ltd board.”

The move will see Kimber report into Page.
