Specialty insurer Aspen has appointed industry veteran Christopher Wildee as its new head of international marine.

Based in London, Wildee will report to Ann Haugh, Aspen COO and Aspen International president.

Wildee will also retain his current role as head of international upstream energy.

“I am delighted that Christopher has been appointed to this new expanded role within Aspen International Insurance,” Haugh said.

“His knowledge, insights and experience in this sector are invaluable and I very much look forward to continuing to work with Christopher in his new role,” she added.

Wildee joined Aspen in 2013, coming from Chaucer Singapore where he served as CEO for nearly eight years.

For almost 11 years, Wildee also worked as head of energy at Wellington Underwriting in London.

Wildee’s appointment is among the latest changes within the company. Earlier this month, Aspen named Advent executive Erik Armellino as international head of onshore energy and construction.

The insurer also appointed Mike Toppi as global head of surety risk and Paul Sanders as global head of credit and political risk.

Last month, Aspen named Stephen Postlewhite and Thomas Lillelund as CEOs of its insurance and reinsurance businesses respectively.
