Aspen Insurance has appointed former XL Catlin executive Lorraine Seib as its new global head of excess casualty.

Based in New York, Seib will focus on delivering creative, problem-solving excess casualty coverage solutions to clients across a wide range of industries.

Seib will be reporting to David Cohen, Aspen Insurance president and chief underwriting officer.

"Lorraine's technical expertise and relationships across the industry are second to none,” Cohen said.

Seib has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries, having held senior executive positions in major companies including XL Catlin, Chubb and AIG.

She most recently served as president of global excess casualty insurance at XL Catlin, where she had responsibility for all excess casualty underwriting operations including in offices located in the US, Dublin and Bermuda.

Seib also worked as president excess casualty at Travelers Insurance, as chief underwriting officer at Kemper and as vice president of Reliance National.

The new Aspen executive has bagged several recognitions during her career. In July 2014, Insurance Business America named her as one of the year’s 50 Elite Women in Insurance “who are defying convention and paving the way for future female executives through their skills, expertise, and commitment to exemplary leadership."
