Aspen Insurance has hired veteran underwriter and former AIG executive Raheila Nazir as its new head of international cyber risk.

Nazir will join the company in the summer and will be based in London. She will be reporting to Ann Haugh, Aspen International Insurance president and COO and Oliver Brew, executive vice president, global head of cyber risk and head of international professional indemnity.

Nazir comes from AIG Europe, where she served as professional indemnity manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this role, she helped drive the cyber strategy with responsibility for product innovation in cyber, technology and media lines.

She also handled and coordinated the UK portfolio of AIG Europe when she worked as the company’s manager of cyber and communications and media and technology.

Having held senior roles at Cat Excess, Brit and RSA, Nazir boasts 16 years of underwriting experience across different product lines including cyber, property and liability.

“I am delighted that someone of Raheila’s calibre and experience is joining Aspen Insurance. This appointment bolsters significantly our position in the cyber market in London and internationally,” Haugh said.

“Raheila brings further depth to the Aspen International Cyber team and her expertise and extensive experience will be fundamental in our strategy of driving growth in this important line of business.”

Aspen Insurance has also appointed Nicholas Lang as underwriter for cyber, who will be joining the company on June 30. He previously worked at Principia, Barbican Insurance and Endurance Worldwide Insurance.
