Andreas Bergler, former head of treaty in Beazley’s Munich office, is now the company’s head of broker relations for continental Europe.

Created to support the specialist insurer’s growth ambitions across the region, the new role will see Bergler focusing on building out Beazley’s pan-European broker relationship network and distribution strategy. He joined Beazley in 2008 and has been instrumental in developing the firm’s presence in Germany.

“European growth is a strategic priority for us, particularly for our international specialty lines business,” noted Will Roscoe, head of broker relations UK & Europe at Beazley. “Andreas’s appointment will allow us to develop new relationships with brokers and build on existing ones as we continue to expand our offering in the region.”

Replacing Bergler as head of the treaty reinsurance team in Munich is Martin Fricke, who came onboard in 2010 and served as treaty underwriter for continental Europe.

“It is testament to the strength and depth of our treaty team that we have been able to recruit from within for this key role,” said treaty business team leader Patrick Hartigan. “I am delighted that Martin will be leading our team as we build on the successes of the past 10 years.”
