Specialist insurer Beazley continues its international expansion with a new office in Europe and the appointment of a new regional manager.

The insurance firm has named Lorena Segovia as financial lines regional manager for continental Europe, who will spearhead growth initiatives from a new office in Barcelona, Spain.

In her latest role, Segovia will be responsible for the development of Beazley’s specialty lines business across the continent.

Segovia joins Beazley from HCC Global, where she was financial lines underwriting manager for southern Europe from 2010. She also worked for Arthur Andersen and a major Spanish law firm.

“Lorena brings underwriting skills, managerial capabilities and relationships that will be invaluable to us as we expand our financial lines presence across the continent,” said Gerard Bloom, Beazley’s head of international financial lines.

Bloom added: “The key to building a successful insurance business in continental Europe, as Lorena has shown throughout her career, is to forge strong relationships with local brokers and offer clients well designed products that are adapted to their local needs.”
